Using a single RAW photo as the source of HDR imaging gives a good balance between convenience and quality. It gives a much wider dynamic range than JPEG files while imposes no extra complexity.
SimplyContrast now fully supports handling RAW photo files by installing a very small plugin, SimplyContrast Accelerator. Accelerator not only enables RAW formats handling, but also improves the performance and the quality of other operations in SimplyContrast.

Notice: the Windows version is much more stable than the Mac version (which is true for both the Flash application and the Accelerator). This is simply caused by the fact that I personally do not own a Mac. I did the development of the Mac version mostly on Linux, testing was done mostly by my friends and my wife.
